Ajax nedir? Ajax ne işe yarar? Ajax nasıl kullanılır?

Ajax yeni bir teknoloji değildir. Aslında ajax bir dilde değildir. Ajax sadece bir kaç teknolojinin birleşiminden oluşan tekniklerdir. Ajax şu kelilerin Asynchronous JavaScript and XML’in birleşiminden oluşan bir kısaltmadır. Ajax’ı populer yapan google’nin onu çok iyi bir şekilde kullanmasıdır. Ajax ile bir sayfayı yenilemeden sunucu ile iletişim kurmamız çok kolay bir hale geliyor. Buda bir çok avantajıda beraberinde getiriyor.
Ajax tekniğinin hedefi veri trafığini azaltmak ve sayfa yenilemeden sunucu ile iletişime geçmek. Bu sayede bir çok işlem çok kolay bir hale geliyor. Mesela anlık borsa bilgilerini vermek istediğinizi düşünelim. Normal şartlarda sayfa her yenilendiğine yeni veriler ekrana gelecektir. Oysa ajax ile bu sayfa yenilenmeden de yapılabilmektedir.

Ajax yeni bir teknik değildir veya bir programlama dili de değildir, sadece xml, javascript vede sitillerin kullanılması sonucu ortaya çıkan bir teknikler topluluğudur tıpkı dHtml gibi.
Kullanım alanları anlık bilgi gerektiren hemen her yer olabiir, mesela bir sohbet sayfası buna bir örnek teşkil edebilir. Ajax sayesinde bu iş oldukça kolay bir hale geliyor vede sayfa yenilenmeden yazılanlar ekrana basılabiliyor. Bunun yanında mesela bir oyun için bazı bilgilerin ekranda güncellenmesini istedğimizde de bunu sayfayı yenilemeden yapabiliyoruz.

Peki nedir ajax’sın faydaları, şimdi bunu bir inceleyelim. Öncelikle performans evet mesela bir kullanıcının siteye giriş yapması gerektiğini düşünelim, bunun için üye giriş forumuna kullanıcı adı ve şifresini yazacak ve giriş düğmesine tıklayacak, bunun sonucunda yeni bir sayfa açılacak ve tüm sayfa tekrardan yüklenecek, bu az veri iletişimi olan sayfalarda belki önemli sayılmayabilir ama çok sayıda ziyaretçisi olan bir site için oldukça büyük bir yük getirebilmektedir. Yeni tekniğimiz sayesinde sayfada sadece kullanıcı adı ve şifresi sunucuya gönderilecek ve eğer bilgiler doğru ise üye girişi yapılmış olacaktır, yani geriye dönen tüm bir sayfa değil sadece onay konudur ( mesela true ). Bu bir performans artışı getirmektedir.

Hızlı bir etkileşim bizim ikinci kazancımızdır. Ajax ile sayfa yenilemeye gerek duymadığımızdan çok daha etkin işler yapabilmekteyiz. Mesela hızlı bir şekilde borsa bilgilerini alabilir, bir satranç oyununda karşıdaki kişinin hareketini aynı anda görebilir ve ona göre davranabiliriz.Tabii bu ihtiyaç ve hayal gücüne göre çok daha geniş bir alanı kapsayacaktır.

Kullanışlılık, ajax tekniği ile daha kullanışlı sayfalar yapabiliriz, mesela sayfa yüklenirken bir uyarı ekranı, tab lı menüler, geçişli ekranlar, güçlü diyalog kutuları gibi. Bunlar için FRAME veya IFRAME kulanmaktan kurtuluyoruz tıpkı Google Maps ta olduğu gibi.

Hızlı bir iletişim, ajax tekniği ile suncu ile iletişimde tüm sayfa gönderimi gerekmediğinden çok daha hızlı bir iletişim oraya çıkmaktadır. Bu da daha hızlı işlemlerin yapılabilmesi demektir. Bir sohbet sayfası gibi.

Kısaca ajax bize web programı geliştirirken çok daha etkin ve hızlı bir çalışma ortamı getirmektedir. Ajax ile asp.net veya php kullanımını ( başka sunucu üzeri diller de olabilir ) birleştirdiğimizde çok hızlı ve güçlü web programları ortaya çıkarabiliriz. Dear Windows Live Spaces customer,

Important changes are coming to your Spaces account that affect you and will require you to choose an option that is right for you. We are very excited to announce our collaboration with a premier and innovative blogging service, WordPress.com, to offer you an upgraded blogging experience. We'll help you migrate your current Windows Live Spaces blog to WordPress.com or you can download it to save for later. You should know that On 16th March 2011 your current space will close.

With the new release of Windows Live services, we've made a series of changes and improvements across our products. We chose to partner to provide our users with a fantastic blogging solution. However, we realise the changes will have an impact on you - this email aims to address any concerns you may have.

Why is this happening?

Our customers have asked for richer blog functionality including an integrated statistics system, continuous saving of drafts and improvements to spam-fighting technology. To deliver the best possible blogging experience, we are collaborating with WordPress.com to provide their free service to you. For those of you that already have a blog on Windows Live Spaces, we will make it easier for you to get started while helping you move what you've already built up on Spaces.

What is the timeline?

Starting at the end of September 2010, when you visit your Windows Live Space you'll be given the opportunity to upgrade your blog by migrating it to WordPress.com and to download your content to save for later.
As of 4th January 2011, you won't be able to make changes to your Spaces blog, but you can continue to review past posts, download your content to save for later and upgrade your blog to WordPress.com.
On 16th March 2011 Windows Live Spaces will close and you will not be able to access or migrate your blog on Spaces.

What you need to do before Windows Live Spaces closes

Starting at the end of September, when you visit your space you'll have the following options:

Upgrade your blog by migrating to WordPress.com - We will provide a simple way to move your blog posts and comments to WordPress.com. Download your blog – You can download your old posts to keep a copy with you. You can also do this and then migrate to WordPress.com. Delete your space - If you decide that you do not want to have a space anymore, you have the option to delete it permanently. If you want to save your content, please make sure to do that before deleting your space. If you can't decide, take some time – Over the next few months, Windows Live Spaces will continue to be accessible while you make your decision. But we're very excited about what you can do on WordPress.com and hope you'll decide to take advantage of this improved blogging experience. Note: some content such as gadgets, guestbook, lists, notes and draft posts won't be migrated. See FAQs for more info on how to preserve this type of content.

What you can expect by moving to WordPress.com

All of your posts, comments and links will transfer, and you will have the option to share your blogging updates with your Messenger friends.

A: Here's a list of different functionality available on Windows Live Spaces today and what you can expect:

Blogs and comments: If you choose to migrate or download, your blog content (including inserted photos, videos and comments) comes with you. Photos: Photos not part of your blog but part of Windows Live will continue to live on SkyDrive and, if you choose, you can continue to share them with others. Photos that were part of your blog will be migrated if you choose to migrate your blog. If you add any other modules provided by other services that shared your photos, those will not be migrated. You'll be able to share your blog back with your Windows Live Messenger friends or just choose to select a few people to invite to WordPress.com. Intel buys McAfee

Intel buys McAfee, has hardware security in the crosshairs

 

This morning, Intel announced in a press release that they will be purchasing the computer security giant McAfee to the tune of $7.68 billion. According the release, Intel wants to integrate security as part of their overarching strategy in “in energy-efficient performance and Internet connectivity.” However, McAfee is by no means a struggling company financially. They enjoyed double digit multi-year growth and 80% gross margins last year, and despite a fairly large faux pas a while back concerning a certain update that did a certain amount of damage to a certain large amount of computers globally, they definitely aren’t in need of being acquired. The move is a strategic one for Intel. Getting into the hardware based security business is something that needs to done, says Intel senior vice president Renee James.

“Hardware-enhanced security will lead to breakthroughs in effectively countering the increasingly sophisticated threats of today and tomorrow. This acquisition is consistent with our software and services strategy to deliver an outstanding computing experience in fast-growing business areas, especially around the move to wireless mobility.”

Dave DeWalt, President and CEO of McAfee, also believes that the partnership will increase their ability to serve their customers.

“The cyber threat landscape has changed dramatically over the past few years, with millions of new threats appearing every month. We believe this acquisition will result in our ability to deliver a safer, more secure and trusted Internet-enabled device experience.”

This is another big step in the direction of platform dominance for Intel. Since their humble beginnings as a chipmaker in mid-20^th century, Intel has grown to dominate other areas of computing, like network Interface cards, integrated graphics chipsets, and parallel computing solutions. Acquiring McAfee will certainly go a long way in pursuing dominance in the hardware based security field.
